Stranded On an Island? Here’s What I’d Wish For

Prompt Day 21: You’re stranded on an island. What is one thing you wish you had? Why?

I could be practical and wish I had a working boat to escape the island, but I also don’t know the first thing about sailing.

Instead, I think I’d wish for magic: I’d want to have Mary Poppins’ bag.

Her bag would be the perfect thing to have as I could pull out of it whatever I needed. Fresh clothes, food, a circus-sized tent, etc.

I could even pull out enough firewood and matches to burn a giant S.O.S. signal so I could get rescued (after a few months of vacation, of course).

Before I pulled anything out meant to help get me off the island, I would enjoy the respite of being away from my life.

Some items I’d pull from the bag include:

  • Books (at least one a day, mostly fantasy books, definitely new releases by all the indie authors I’ve been watching)
  • A super-comfy lounge chair
  • A fashionable, oversized sun hat (preferably teal, but white would work in a pinch)
  • All. The. Sunscreen. (My complexion was not meant for being anywhere south of the north pole)
  • A comfortable, one-piece bathing suit
  • Pretty notebooks and blue pens (once I’m rested, I’ll probably want to start writing all those books currently living in my head)

Come to think of it, I may never want to leave this island. It’s starting to sound like a pretty great place to be…
